Millets Farm Fly Fishing Club (MFFFC) is situated at Millets Farm Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, UK. Originally a commercial day-ticket trout fishery it became a club water in 1999.

Set in attractive surroundings and with easy access, the trout fishery comprises of two lakes totalling about 5 acres. These are stocked regularly throughout the fishing season (March 1 to December 21) with rainbow and brown trout. Vegetation around the lakes is kept low for easier casting yet provide cover for stalking.

Ample parking space is available adjacent to the lakes and there is a well-equipped fishing lodge together with a choice of restaurants at the Farm Centre.

Millets Farm Centre is situated at Frilford on the A415 which has easy access to the A34 at the Marcham (Abingdon) interchange (less than 30 minutes from the M40 and M4) and also to the A420 linking Swindon to Oxford.

Benefits of joining the MFFFC

  • The fishery comprises of two interconnected lakes which are stocked frequently with rainbows from 2 to 8lb and browns of about 2lb from certified stock supplied by Bibury Trout Farm. It is open for nearly 10 months each year from 1 March to 21 December.
  • Situated a short drive from the A34 and A420, and the car park is close to the lakes.
  • The subscription basis allows you to fish for as long as you like as often as you like during daylight hours, and includes free guest visits up to 4 full-days or 8 half-days per season.
  • No joining fee.
  • Your Membership allows you to take 50 fish per season (more fish can be purchased if you reach this limit). In 2011 we are piloting a Catch and Release policy but which also allows you to retain fish as and when you want up to the seasonal limit. We encourage the use of different fly fishing techniques by keeping restrictions to a minimum.
  • A Junior Membership is available for under-16s accompanied by an adult. This allows 15 fish per season for £100 (more fish can be purchased if this limit is reached). Members can also bring under-16s as guests provided they are supervised at all times. (The Salmon and Trout Association have a Junior Day at the lakes each Good Friday.)
  • There is a well-equipped Lodge, which includes toilet facilities for the disabled, and free coffee or tea is provided. There are also restaurants and a bar at the nearby Farm Centre.
  • We pride ourselves on being a friendly club. There are club visits to other waters and several informal, paired matches as well as other events each year, including an Open Day in April.
  • The lakes are mainly groundwater-fed. Micro-bubble aerators and barley straw help to promote a healthy water quality, weed growth and abundant insect life.
  • Open, flat grassed banks, with lakeside seating, allow for easy casting, which is of particular benefit to those new to the sport or with restricted mobility.
  • For those wanting to try the sport we can offer free casting guidance by our Members, whilst a qualified instructor is also available for those wishing to develop their skills further. We also hold an Open Day in April each year.
